The aim of this symposium is to promote the continued development, production and proper use of reference materials in clinical genetic testing. The coordination of the above activities amongst interested parties across Europe and world-wide will be discussed.

Fourth EuroGentest Symposium on Reference Materials for Genetic Testing

September 9-10, 2013 Dublin, Ireland

START: September 9th 12.00 END: September 10th 16.00

Objectives of the Symposium:

1) To promote the continued development, production and proper use of reference materials in clinical genetic testing.

2) To promote the coordination of the above activities amongst interested parties across Europe and world-wide.

3) To bring together producers, users and regulators of RMs in a setting that promotes networking, exchanges of ideas and collaboration.

  • Update of priority list for RM development – input from EQA providers, industry and end-users.
  • Importance of RMs for maintaining accreditation.
  • Updates and discussion of current RM development projects.
  • Updates from CDC GeT-RM project and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Presentations from industry.
  • Challenges and opportunities from new technologies: NGS and NIPD.
  • Sourcing patient materials for RM development.
  • Future routes to RM development
